coachella 2022 *
highlights, lowlights, lessons learned. plus a recreation of my weekend 2 set ~
in october of 2021 i gave birth to my daughter “genie”. one day i will write about the immensity of the experience of becoming a mother. but for this post, i want to write about my experience of beginning and cancelling a big tour of the states with a 5 month old baby by my side.
i was pregnant when i gave the green light to the 5 week us tour. the first offer that came through was for coachella. i was asked to play the yuma tent for two weekends in a row and it honestly felt like a no brainer. it was coachella after all. more offers rolled through, which meant i would be touring the whole country. not too many dates, but it was over a decent amount of time, and covering a lot of ground so theres no doubt it would have been quite taxing
at the time of saying yes, i already had a history of struggling with touring. i had been thrust into playing shows that i wasnt quite ready for (pre-pandemic). and during the pandemic logic music was gaining a bit of traction which i assume is the reason for the coachella offer.
